The nanosecond the Eagles aquired Michael Vick last year it has been my assertion that the team did it to help the NFL get the guy back in the league, and they would absorb the public relations nightmare for a decent draft pick when they'd ultimately trade Vick around this time this year.
So can Michael Vick be a starter again in the NFL? Well, let's start by looking at what teams don't have a clear-cut starter for the coming season...
Here is my list of teams that Michael Vick may ultimately play for this year. I have grouped the 32 teams in the NFL into three categories; the No's, the Probably Not's and the I Could See It's. This list assumes Vick will not be back in Philly.
the No's:
Indianapolis - Peyton Manning
New England - Tom Brady
New Orleans - Drew Brees
Houston - Matt Schaub
Pittsburgh - Ben Rothlisberger
San Diego - Phillip Rivers
Atlanta - Matt Ryan
Green Bay - Aaron Rodgers
New York Jets - Mark Sanchez
New York Giants - Eli Manning
Baltimore - Joe Flacco
Dallas - Tony Romo
Chicago - Jay Intercep, err, Cutler
Detroit - Matthew Stafford
Kansas City - Matt Cassell
Cincinatti - Carson Palmer
(For those of you who were counting, that's half the league)
the Probably Not's:
Tennesee - Vince Young
Seattle - Matt Hasselbeck
Minnesota - Brett Favre, Sage Rosenfels, Tavaris Jackson
Denver - Kyle Orton
Cleveland - the irony of Michael Vick playing in the "Dawg Pound" is enough to rule Cleveland out
Miami - Chad Henne, Pat White
Arizona - Matt Leinart
Jacksonville - David Garrard
Washington - I just can't see Mike Shannahan wanting to start off in Washington with Michael Vick at QB.
Buffalo - Trent Edwards, and it's too freakin cold for Michael Vick to ever sign with Buffalo
the I Could See It's:
Carolina - Jake Del Homo, Matt Moore
Tampa Bay - Josh Freeman-although a high draft pick in 2009, he could sit behind Vick for two years
San Francisco - Alex Smith, Other Douche
Oakland - Jamarcus Russell (puh-lease), Bruce Gradkowski. Al Davis craves speed and the deep spiral.
St. Louis - Steven Jackson, if they can talk him into it
Stay tuned for updates to version 1.1 as we get closer to the NFL Draft in late April.
