USA Loses To Ghana AGAIN 2-1

In what may be Landon Donovan's swan song, in a game where he tied it up, the US goes home against a Ghana team that faced an unbelievable amount of pressure in the last 75 minutes of the game.

LPS will write more when my eyes have dried.

Landon Donovan is an exceptional soccer player and definitely the best player on the US team. If this is it for him, I'm sad to see his run end. I hope we have another player to step up for our team.

Lord knows it won't be Joze Altiodore.

Ghana Scores AGAIN Within Minutes Of The Extra Time To Go Up 2-1

The US defense goes swiss cheese to the disgruntled hearts of hundreds, maybe thousands of American soccer fans.

The rest of the 30 minute stoppage time wears on.

US, Ghana Knotted At 1-1 As Game Goes To 30 Minutes Of Extra Time

At the end of regulation the game is still tied 1-1.

There will be 30 minutes of extra time. If the game is still tied after the extra time there will be penalty kicks to decide the game.

US Still Down 0-1 Against Ghana At The Half

The US team was outplayed for the majority of the first half by a Ghana team that ran faster, passed better and generally tried harder than the US team.

Ghana passed the ball very well and were able to make the US team chase them around the length of the field for the majority of the half.

The US allowed a goal within five minutes, for the zillionth time in about as many matches.

Tim Howard allowed a soft one after a bad turnover at midfield.

But on a lighter note, our striker (#20) Findley is hurting the US with his play or lack thereof. The US has already used a sub, so they have two left for the match.

The United States are no strangers to having to come back, but it's going to catch up to them sooner or later.

Ghana Scores Within 5 Minutes, US Down 0-1

The US team let up an early goal - again - and go down to Ghana.

It was a clear shot from about 18 yards out. US goalie Tim Howard was a bit out of position. It wasn't a good goal.

Hamhuis Traded To Pens

In a true head scratcher, the Flyers just traded previously acquired rights to D Dan Hamhuis to the freaking Pens for a 3rd round pick next year.

Really stupid...

Flyers News: Flyers Working To Acquire Sharks Goalie Nabakov

There are mounting reports that the Flyers are exploring the potential of adding current San Jose Sharks goaltender Evgeni Nabakov.

After watching Nabakov in the playoffs this year, I'm very against the idea.

There were previous reports that the Flyers were interested in current Boston Bruin goalie Tim Thomas, but Thomas' annual salary hovering around $5 million per year made/makes that move difficult.

NFL News: Shooting At Mike Vick's Birthday Party

Here's a link to the story which involves:

1. Mike Vick
2. A gun
3. A bullet
4. A man shot with the bullet listed in #3 of this list

http://m.nbcsports.com/s/3030/proFootballTalkDetails;jsessionid=7E28C4443C0FDD7457CE7E9739CA9885?itemUriVal=2090695c5ba68803a6e8bc6c609b55ce%2F312261031094128101115250710&view=hdl&itemTitle=Shooting%20occurs%20at%20Mike%20Vick's%20birthday%20party

Police said the victim and witnesses were uncooperative and that the victim first refused treatment.

Even if Vick didn't fire the gun, this story still speaks about the company he keeps. And it reminds us you can take the dog out of the fight but you can't take the fight out of the dog.

Unless you hang it. Or electrocute it.

Rollins Returns With A Bang!

Jimmy Rollins picked a great time to collect his first walkoff homer of his career. He deposited a fastball into the right field seats, his first hit after returning yesterday from a calf strain. It was a 2-run jack that gave the Phillies the win 7-6.

Nice timing Jimmy!

* In Phillies other news, Greg Dobbs excepted his demotion after clearing waivers today to AAA. He reports to Lehigh on Friday.

Sixers News: Trade Details Update And Thoughts From D.O.B.

Correcting an earlier error in our report, the Timberwolves hold the fourth overall pick in the coming NBA draft.

There are rumors circulating that the Sixers and Timberwolves may be exploring options to swap the Sixers' second pick in the draft for the fourth pick held by the 'Wolves. As well, there is speculation that the teams may swap Elton Brand for Al Jefferson
Here is a summation from LPS's Dan O'Brien regarding the potential of such a trade:

"The Nets are going to take Wesley Johnson, removing the top two swingmen from the draft. Twolves are already set at the forward spot and neither Favors nor Cousins helped themselves with their workouts. I fully expect them to move the pick for a shooting guard or small forward if possible. The Sixers have an advantage right now. No reason to give up the 2nd overall pick in a "two man draft" (according to Stefanski) to move Brand's contract. Move Iguadala to a team that desperately needs a SG/SF (the Twolves, Clippers, Atlanta if Joe Johnson walks, etc) for picks and expirings. Even a deal like Iggy to the Clippers for their lotto pick and Chris Kamen would work. But it would be a step backwards to give up the second overall pick in the draft just to move Brand's contract. Brand will rebuild some of his value playing under Collins, so don't trade him when his worth is at zero. For the Twolves, how would the 4th pick and Jefferson for the 2nd and Brand make sense? Yes they would get their swingman, but they would be exchanging a 23 year old potential All-Star PF who can't play on the same court as Kevin Love for a 31 year old former All-Star PF who can't play on the same court as Kevin Love. Wouldn't it make more sense for them to move Jefferson directly for a young swingman? Or trade the 4th pick and move back in the draft to take Xavier Henry (who could be great next to Flynn) or James Anderson?"

Team USA News: US Will Play Ghana This Saturday

Though Ghana just lost to Germany 1-0, they will still get into the 16-team second round of the World Cup starting this Saturday.

Ghana will play the United States this Saturday at 2:30pm est. The US will be considered the underdog against a skilled Ghana team.

Watching Germany play Ghana today, the most noticeable difference in contrast to the US style of play is that Ghana plays a very fast style of play, usually sprinting to either attack or defend.

Germany wins Group D, and will face England in the next round of the tournament.

US Wins It 1-0 In Amazing Fashion!

In a wild one, when the goal just didn't seem like it was ever going to come, Landon Donovan rights the wrongs and wins it for the US in stoppage time.

1-0 and USA wins the group.

I'm totally spent after one of the most gut-wrenching games I've ever watched.

From the cusp of elimination to winning the group and moving on.

Team USA Update: Dempsey Strikes The Post, My Blood Pressure Is Dangerously High

Clint Dempsey, who had a beautiful disallowed earlier in the match, just bricked a wide open sjot inside the penalty area, and then shot his own rebound wide.

He'll be up all night rethinking and regretting that miss.

The game is still tied 0-0, while England is still winning 1-0. Both games are 60 minutes in.

Team USA Update: US Team Robbed Of Another Goal

Clint Dempsey scored a beautiful goal right in front of the Algerinan goal but was called offsides.

He wasn't.
It was a goal.

So for the second straight game the US team has had a goal stripped away from them.

The US has already had many good scoring chances in this game versus Algeria. In fact, this is the best start for the US team in the tournament.

The game is currently at the 39th minute and tied 0-0.

England is winning 1-1 against Slovenia at the half.

World Cup News: Portugal Destroys North Korea 7-0

I don't care about either team, and I'm sure you don't either.

What I DO care about is those crazy bastards up in North Korea were humiliated, losing 7-0, on the world stage today when Portugal ran a train on them.

Take that Kim Jong. And like it.
