What will you win??!!

wait for it...

A Cliff Lee #33 T-shirt!!!!

Here is the main question: What will be the final score (include naming the teams with the score) of Super Bowl XLV??  (Example: Packers 23, Steelers 20)

Tie-breaker: What will be the total combined net offensive yards in the game?

* Only one entry per person.
* The deadline for submissions is Sunday at 6pm est...
* The person closest to the final score (including teams) wins. In the event of a tie, we'll go to the tie-breaker with the person closest to the number winning. If for some reason more than one person actually names the score and tie-breaker, the winner will be the person who responded first.

LPS Saturday Morning Report

By DT

SIXERS:

Last night the Sixers notched one of their most exciting victories of the season 100-98 over the NY Knicks. The Sixers exploded in the 4th quarter! Elton Brand led the way with his best game of the season collecting 33 points and 16 boards, yet another double-double. Brand has quietly had a fantastic season with the Sixers... He got help last night from Andre Iguodala who also had a double-double with 18 points and 16 assists, Meeks had 14 points and Young had 10 points.

The Sixers finish up their home-and-home with the Knicks on Sunday in New York. Game time is 12pm on CSN. Really weird and random matinee...

FLYERS:

The orange & black attack get back on the ice tonight at the Wells Fargo Center against the Dallas Stars. Game time is 7pm on CSN.

EAGLES/NFL:

Congrats to Michael Vick for winning the fan's vote for Comeback Player of the Year! Another congrats to Vick and everyone else involved who made sure he DID NOT go to that Super Bowl party...

Speaking of Super Bowl XLV, game time tomorrow is 6:30pm est on FOX.

Super Squid Wins Wing Bowl 19 Plus Video Wrap-Up

By DT

I couldn't go today without mentioning something about a true Philly tradition, our version of Mardi Gras, Wing Bowl! Super Squib won his 3rd straight title by one wing over El Wingador this morning at Wing Bowl 19 taking home a ridiculous amount of prizes! Super Squid in the process broke Joey Chesnut's wing record of 241by devouring 255 wings... Ouch!

Also the greatest competitive eater ever Kobayashi was on hand in El Wingador's entourage and for the fun of it shattered a record eating a 12 inch cheesesteak in 24 seconds! Crazy... Kobayashi announced after his stunt that he will indeed try his hand at Wing Bowl 20 next year to take on Super Squid! Even though El Wingador claims he will retire again, i have a feeling he will not be able to turn down the opportunity to be in the field against these guys next year.

Here is the video wrap below full of sights and sounds! If you want to see pictures and other videos, check out: http://wingbowl.cbslocal.com/

LPS Friday Morning Report

By DT

FLYERS:

The Flyers got a great rebound victory last night over the Nashville Predators 3-2! Villie Leino led the way with  2 goals including the game-winner and Jeff Carter had a goal and 2 assists. Congrats to Leino on the first 2-goal game of his career!

Great way to come back from a terrible loss against the Lighting on Tuesday... Nice job by Lavy going with his gut and putting Leino out for a double shift which led to that gorgeous spin-o-rama game-winner!

The Flyers are off tonight but return to home ice Saturday night against the Dallas Stars. Game time is 7pm at CSN.

SIXERS:

The Sixers are back in action tonight at the Wells Fargo Center taking on the NY Knicks. Game time is 7pm on CSN.

EAGLES:

People are still stunned and reacting to the Eagles move of hiring/promoting Juan Castillo to D-coordinator... And the conspiracy theories are flowing!

Video Of DeSean Jackson, Todd Herremans & Jamal Jackson Surprising 13 Year-Old Nadin Khoury On ABC's The View

By DT

This is the video that is all over the internet right now... 13 year-old Nadin Khoury from the Philly area was on ABC's The View today talking about his horrific bullying incident where he was beaten by 7 kids, hung on a fence and video-taped. The kid has been through hell...

Today however DeSean Jackson, Todd Herremans and Jamal Jackson made the kid smile surprising him on the show! Really classy and kind move by those 3 guys and the Eagles... Awesome!

Jamal Jackson also mentioned his website that is to help and inspire young adults to grow as people; check it out:  http://ichosetolive.com/

LPS Thursday Morning Report

By DT

EAGLES:

Never a dull moment in Eagle-land... The Eagles stunned everyone yesterday naming Juan Castillo as the new Defensive Coordinator. The Eagles also have brought in Howard Mudd to replace Castillo as the O-line coach which Andy Reid said was necessary for all this to fall into place.

For all my thoughts and the Castillo press conference check out my last two posts on the LPS site...

SIXERS:

The Sixers continued their winning ways last night with a decisive 106-92 victory over the NJ Nets. Jrue Holiday led the way with a triple-double scoring 11 points, notching 11 assists and grabbing 10 boards. Lou Williams also had a big night with 26 points, Iguodala had 16, Meeks had 15 and Brand had a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards.

The Sixers next game is Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center vs the New York Knicks. Game time is 7pm on CSN.

FLYERS:

The Flyers return home for the first time in over a week to take on the Nashville Predators. I look for the Flyers to be up on their skates tonight after a terrible 4-0 loss on Tuesday night to the Lighting.

Game time tonight is 7pm on CSN.

Eagles Press Conference Introducing Juan Castillo

By DT

Here is the Eagles press conference from today with Andy Reid introducing Juan Castillo as the new D-coordinator...

More Thoughts On The Juan Castillo Hiring As D-Coordinator

By DT

I like everyone else was stunned by the Eagles decision to promote O-line coach Juan Castillo to defensive coordinator... Castillo hasn't coached defense since the 80's but said today he always wanted to go back to the dark side (defense)! Castillo played linebacker, coached the linebackers and D-line and coached his son who is a DB in college. He had to move to the offensive side for an opportunity that was presented to him. Castillo is one of the hardest working and dedicated football people so if anyone could pull this off it would be him. But it is a huge risk for both parties...

Castillo will have no time to learn on the job, has a young squad and doesn't have nearly enough play-makers on that side of the ball. Andy Reid and the Eagles have a lot to lose here because every year that goes by without a Super Bowl sooner-or-later will bite them in the ass. This move reportedly was all Andy Reid so if it doesn't work out, you have to wonder if there will be consequences. Reid specified in his press conference the only reason he made the move now is because he was able to land Howard Mudd to coach the O-line. Mudd is fantastic and comes with a high pedigree...

The Jim Washburn hiring now makes even more sense... If Washburn with his fantastic track record can get production from the front-4, Castillo will be ahead of the game already. The bottom line in all this is it doesn't really matter what happens with Castillo, if you don't have players your not going to be successful.

Here are a few points and thoughts I have read or heard today:

* Via Howard Eskin, Andy Reid interviewed over 12 people for this job in the last few weeks. Castillo just blew him away...

* Heard from several sources that Castillo would frequently work with Jim Johnson, Ron Rivera and Leslie Frazier on the defensive side like blitzes and back-and-forth banter with offense/defense.

* Eagles LG Todd Herremans reacts on Twitter: Congrats to Juan Castillo! He's worked hard and earned it... I hope the defense is ready to work! Lol

* Castillo Coaching History:

   Eagles offensive line coach: 1998-2010
   Eagles offensive assistant: 1995-96
   Eagles tight ends coach: 1997
   Texas A&M-Kingsville O-line coach: 1990-94
Kingsville High School LB coach/D-coordinator: 1986-89
   Texas A&M-Kingsville D-line/LB coach: 1982-85

LPS Wednesday Afternoon Report

By DT

FLYERS:

Well someone forgot to tell the Flyers the All-star break was over... The Lighting kicked the Flyers ass up and down the ice last night shutting them out 4-0. Sergei Bobrovsky was pulled after one period as he allowed 3 goals on 6 shots. The Flyers created a few chances throughout the night but the early hole they dug never allowed them to be in the game.

Not much else can be said...

The Flyers return home on Thursday night to play the Nashville Predators. Game time is 7pm on CSN.

SIXERS:

The Sixers return to the floor tonight in New Jersey to play the Nets. Game time is 7pm on CSN.

EAGLES:

The Eagles confirmed yesterday that they interviewed Bears DB coach Joe Woods on Tuesday. As I said in my post last night the Eagles really seem like they want to hire a DB coach to be the next D-coordinator...

In other Eagles news, Kevin Kolb told the Dan Patrick Show yesterday that in his meeting with Andy Reid, he asked to be traded. He wants to start and feels he is ready... I'm sure the Eagles would move him but only for the right price.

LPS Monday Morning Report

SIXERS:

Last night the Sixers got that bad taste out of their mouths from Friday night's horrific loss with a nice 110-99 victory over the visiting Nuggets.

Andre Iguodala led the way in victory with 24 points and a good all around game, Young had 21 and one of his best games all season, Brand had 15, Williams had 12 and Turner had another strong game with 11 points and 8 boards.

The Sixers are off until Wednesday night when they travel to NJ to face the Nets. Game time is 7pm on CSN.

FLYERS/NHL:

Last night Team Lidstrom defeated Team Staal 11-10 in the NHL All-star game. Flyers representatives Danny Briere and Claude Giroux had great showings!! Briere had 2 goals and Giroux had a goal and 2 assists...

Speaking of the Flyers they start the second half of the season tomorrow night in Tampa Bay against the Lightning. Game time is 7:30pm on CSN.

EAGLES/NFL:

Yesterday the NFC beat the AFC 55-41 in the NFL Pro Bowl... It was one of the worst football games ever...

Yesterday word was broke nationally by ESPN that a source has stated the Eagles plan to franchise tag Michael Vick and actively shop Kevin Kolb. We all expected this I'm sure especially since some local media folks had mentioned it already... It's a good move especially if the Eagles can get a 1st round pick for Kolb since this draft is not a very deep QB draft.
